How Much Do You Want What You Say You Want?
You really shouldn't read on if your desire to stop drinking is not strong enough
because
Did you realise that when your desire to STOP DRINKING is greater than your desire to continue you are already fifty-one per cent healed?
The story is told that a young man asked Socrates how he could get wisdom
"Come with me," Socrates replied. He took the lad to a river and shoved his head underwater. He held it there until the boy struggled for air. Then he let him go. Once the boy regained his composure, Socrates asked him, "What did you desire most when your head was underwater?"
"I wanted air," the boy told him.
Socrates nodded slowly."When you want wisdom as much as you wanted air when you were immersed in the water," he said "you will receive it".
As in the above story when your desire to stop drinking and LIVE is stronger than your want to keep drinking and DIE then you are ready to come and see me. You really musn't contact me before then.

Neurofeedback - 'mental antabuse'-
Neurofeedback is a procedure in which brainwaves are measured and turned into sounds or visual displays that inform the individual when particular brainwaves are present. A higher pitched tone may indicate the presence of alpha brainwaves ( 8- 13 Hz). Using these indications, the individual can learn to increase the presence of these brainwaves in order to enhance relaxed, pleasurable states. Such states tend to increase creative imagery and reverie as opposed to logical, linear thought processes. .
Individuals with addictive problems often have a relative absence of slow brainwaves, that limits their ability to experience satisfaction from everyday life events. The use of addictive substances then represents an attempt to self-medicate that is doomed to long-term failure as more and more of the substance is required to 'feel good' or even just OK. Neurofeedback is proving to be highly effective for these problems. It involves learning to correct for deficiency in slow EEG activity by increasing the presence of alpha and theta brainwave activity.
Biofeedback clinical trials have shown that EEG neurofeedback can help patients abstain from alcohol. In one study that combined EEG neurofeedbackwith temperature biofeedback, relaxation training, and several psychological strategies, 8 of 10 experimental patients and none of the control patients remained abstinent from alcohol after 24 months. The Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback’s (AAPB) Evidence-Based Practice in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback by Carolyn Yucha, PhD, and Christopher Gilbert, PhD, awarded this treatment the third-highest rating of probably efficacious
Alcoholism
The breakthrough study on the application of Neurofeedback / EEG Biofeedback to alcoholism was performed by Eugene Peniston, psychologist on the staff at Fort Lyons Veterans Administration Hospital in Colorado. The treatment outcome for alcohol addiction treatment for Vietnam veteran pilots was abysmal at the time. Peniston had personally experienced biofeedback and Neurofeedback at the Menninger Clinic where an early research group in EEG biofeedback was continuing its work. The group was aware of the benefits of EEG biofeedback for alcoholism, but that was not their real interest. Peniston took the method back with him to Fort Lyons where he undertook a controlled study. The results were striking. Every veteran who did the Neurofeedback (ten out of ten) was no longer abusing alcohol after the training, whereas everyone in the control group, which received the regular in-patient treatment, continued the pattern of addiction after release. The contrast could not have been more dramatic. These results were then replicated by others . The result is that we now have a technique for the remediation of alcohol dependency that has high predictability.
Warning : Peniston Effect
Trainee's who engage in eyes closed alpha/theta training on a regular basis may well be at risk for the Peniston effect i.e. becoming 'allergic' to alcohol, narcotics or other addictive substances that have formerly been used.
Therefore a serious commitment to stop drinking is needed to obtain a place on this programme. You really shouldn't contact if you are not serious about wanting to quit alcohol. Single sessions are not available. Maria does not accept enquires on the behalf of clients [ i.e. it must be the person wishing to undertake treatment that contacts the clinic]. Fee on application.

Recent research has analysed the link between the harmful effects of drugs relative to their current classification by law with some startling conclusions. Perhaps most startling of all is that alcohol, solvents and tobacco (all unclassified drugs) are rated more dangerous than ecstasy, 4-MTA and LSD (all class A drugs). If the current ABC system is retained, alcohol would be rated a class A drug and tobacco class B.
Imagine a poison so popular yet a drug of contradictions
makes us friendly one minute --> BUT --> violent the next
