Embody Guide to Emotional Freedom Techniques
BASIC EFT PROCEDURE
The Set Up
First find either ‘the sore spot' on the chest about 3
inches down from the notch at the top of the breastbone and 3 inch
out on to the chest (either side). ie on your chest where you would pin a medal or
a brooch. Gently push with your fingertips to find an area that
feels tender, rather than sore. OR
Karate chop point, located on the outer edge of the hand mid way
between the base of the little finger and the wrist - the
part of your hand where you would use to give a karate chop.
Focus
your mind on the problem/issue by using a statement of the problem
eg I have this bad headache/I am afraid of heights. Now you've
named the problem, we start with the Set-Up. Locate the sore spot,
rub it gently whilst saying
Even though I (insert the problem statement eg I have this
headache) I deeply and completely accept myself
Repeat 3 times rubbing the Sore Spot continuously and repeating the
Set-Up statement - with as much emphasis and energy into the 'I
deeply and completely accept myself' part. If using the Karate Chop
point instead vigorously tap the Karate Chop point with the
fingertips of the index finger and middle finger of the other hand
again repeating the statement 3 times whilst tapping. Tap the
points outlined below with your index and middle finger, quite
rapidly about 7 times. As you tap each point repeat a shortened
version of the Set Up statement which is called the reminder
phrase, so if your statement was
Even though I have this bad headache I deeply and completely
accept myself you say the reminder phrase
this bad headache on each point at the same time as
you tap. The
Sequence

Eyebrow
Side of Eye
Under Eye
Under Nose
Chin
Collar Bone
Under Eye
Thumb (all finger points on side of the finger, in line with
nail bed)
Index Finger
Middle Finger
Little Finger
Karate Chop Point
Crown
The
9 Gamut
Gamut
Point (just
behind & between the knuckles of your ring and little finger.
As you tap on this point repeat the reminder phrase in between as
best you can to keep yourself focused on the problem at hand.
1.
Eyes closed
2. Eyes open
3. Eyes hard down right while holding head steady
4. Eyes hard down left while holding head steady
5. Roll eyes in a circle clockwise direction
6. Roll eyes in an anti clockwise direction
7. Hum 2 seconds of a song for example Happy Birthday
8. Count rapidly from 1 to 5
9. Hum 2 seconds of a song again
Take a deep breath in and out.
Then go back and tap from the eyebrow to crown. This is one
full round of EFT.
Testing the
changes
A
great way to ascertain how you feel is to put a number on it. The
technical term is taking a SUDS Scale Reading (Subjective Units of
Disturbance )ie Ask yourself ...
* on a scale of 0 - 10, where 0 means no intensity and 10 is the
highest level of discomfort, pain, anxiety,
sadness etc how would you rate what you are
experiencing right now?
This works of emotions as well as for physical sensations and even
for beliefs which may be a problem. If, for example, you start with
an 8 or 9, and after a round of tapping, the severity is reduced to
a 4 or 5 you need to do some more work.
Subsequent Treatment Rounds
If
after one round the problem is not as severe anymore but still
noticeable, you will need to slightly adjust the set up statement
eg 'Even though I still have some of this remaining
anger I deeply and completely accept myself 'and reminder phrase '
remaining anger'

Hi Maria
I must tell you this ---- My boyfriend has had a real
fear of flying for years. Last year we went to Amsterdam and he really
wasn't good on the plane -- I remember him crushing my hand as we came in
to land!! He'd get panicky, sweaty hands the lot -- Anyway, I've been
telling him about this and suggested we try it for when we flew last
Thursday. Did it the night before, and we went through 3 rounds before he
said he was happy and he was at 0. Then next morning, we were just
casually chatting and he mentioned something about getting on the plane --
and then carried on talking, as if he hadn't noticed what he said. I asked
him how he was feeling, and he said "You know, it's really weird, but I'm
not bothered - I kind of think I should be but I'm not".
Got on the flight fine, no hand-breaking at all, in fact he was looking
out the window at the mountains! His palms were dry as a bone and he was
completely fine. He is SO impressed !! And I was so pleased to be able to
help him, and see the grin on his face!
So an even bigger thank you to you!!

"the cause of all negative
emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system"
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a psychological
version of acupressure, incorporating methods from ancient Chinese
medicine and modern day applied kinesiology. Each session involves gently
tapping a sequence of meridians or energy points on the body, which releases negative
emotions, usually in minutes. Meridians can be described as the
energy equivalent of our arteries and veins.
EFT is like emotional feng shui
EFT is like an Eastern form of hypnotherapy
EFT is like conventional therapy with a body element

Harrow-on-the-Hill,
first mentioned in 767 is widely known for
Harrow School where 7 former
Prime Ministers - most notably Winston Churchill & the very first Indian
Prime Minister Jawaharal Nehru- attended. More recently Harrow
School's famous Fourth Form Room provided the ideal setting for
Hogwarts Library in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
There are spectacular views across London from the churchyard where
Lord Byron frequently sought inspiration. You can wander the winding streets of
Victorian London where many period dramas have been shot . The Hill also boasts
an array of chic European bistros, traditional 'olde worlde' pub and even
a quaint tea shop. |
